Great post. it is very true and easy. all you have to do is optimize your pages withe the write keywords which will be part of great content put it on your blog/website, update it regularly, Google spiders will crawl it and see it as relevant and increase your rankings to heights where people who are typing these keywords in will find you. so you will be the hunted and not the hunter. this is Inbound marketing vs outbound marketing where inbound marketing clearly wins hands down.

Yes Microsoft is gobbling up Yahoo, that's my take on it anyway.

I've found that the 2 lessor search engines (and you could possibly include aol search in this mix) utility to me is as follows:

If you rank in Bing and you rank in Yahoo... Google will *see* that those 2 search engines think you're site is important.
I use the lessor search engines to boost my ranking in Google!

Here's how you pull this off... I charge for this tidbit so you're getting this for free (gotta provide value to my loyal subscribers...)

On your main website, (if said website is a Word Press blog add this to a widget) paste the actual yahoo search results where your company ranks in yahoo for a specific keyword phrase, now use the keyword phrase to link to the yahoo serps

for example:

write this text copy: organic search ranking
then link it to this url: http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AgM3cL7YGXqUjhT8Z2fh_AWbvZx4?p=organic+search+ranking&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701

like this:

<a href="http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AgM3cL7YGXqUjhT8Z2fh_AWbvZx4?p=organic+search+ranking&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701">Organic search ranking</a>

Local Organic Search Ranking
<a href="http://www.bing.com/search?q=local+organic+search+ranking&go=&form=QBRE&qs=n&sk=">Local Organic Search Ranking</a>

this way you get the spiders to "follow their tails"

I agree that regardless of what search engine you want to be in wordpress is the leader with regards to creating blogs. They offer a ton of SEO friendly plugins and add-ons that can really help you get in the indexes. Bing has always been an anomaly to me though. I always noticed I have a lot more pages listed in Google than bing or yahoo. I guess maybe thats why Google is #1 lol.

Interesting insight. I think a lot of people new to SEO don't understand how much work a specialist will do on their behalf and that it is indeed quite time consuming to do it right. I think a lot of people are surprised when Good Seo companies give them estimates like you said because there are a lot of bad companies and scammers in the field. Why pay thousands of dollars when you can buy some shady software that builds you 10,000 links and promises your site will be on the 1st page of Google? It is sad, but in the end these people get burned. I agree with you though, Good Seo work isn't cheap, but people expect it to be along with ridiculous expectation results. I think a lot of it just stems from all the bad information that is out there.

I have been working as a content management and Web Promotion expert for the last 5 years, Recently I have been doing a lot of freelance work . I contacted many companies and i scored some work aswell. I recently stumbled across this What is Search Engine Optimization? | Local Search Engine Ranking page about 6 days ago and found some useful material, so thought i'd go through the old bookmarks again to see if there was any fresh content, and i'm glad I did!
